Local Physical Therapy Practice Offers Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation

Access Physical Therapy & Wellness now offering pelvic floor rehabilitation at two locations

PORT JERVIS, N.Y. (October 11, 2016)—Access Physical Therapy & Wellness is proud to announce that it will now be offering pelvic floor rehabilitation through the Bon Secours Charity Health System, a member of the Westchester Medical Center Heath Network. Beginning Sept. 12 the services will be available at Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis and St. Anthony Community Hospital Center for Physical Rehabilitation in Warwick.

The pelvic floor is a muscular base of the abdomen that is attached to the pelvis. Pelvic floor muscles help to maintain urinary and fecal continence, add support to internal organs, and allow for sexual function. Incontinence, organ prolapse, sexual dysfunction, and pain in the pelvic region are common symptoms of pelvic floor dysfunction.

“We’re happy to now offer these services through our partners at Bon Secours Charity Health System,” said Director of Rehabilitation for Bon Secours Charity Health System Outpatient Facilities Hillary Bastone, PT. “Pelvic floor rehab at our outpatient sites provides a seamless continuum of care for the BSCHS obstetrician-gynecologist departments, oncology departments, and birthing centers. But what I am most excited by, is the ability to provide our communities with a much needed and hard to find specialty.”

Pelvic floor rehabilitation is a physical therapy treatment that can help to reduce pain in daily activities, improve continence, and restore sexual function. Through a program of exercise and manual treatment, a physical therapist can help to reduce the symptoms of pelvic floor dysfunction and strengthen the pelvic floor muscle.

Access provides services for orthopedic injuries, multiple sclerosis, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders, difficulty walking, poor balance, arthritis and more. Hours of operation are 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to noon on Saturdays.
