Rockland County Physical Therapist Offers Innovative Treatment for Joint, Muscle Pain with Graston TechniqueDr. Tracy Urvater of Access Physical Therapy & Wellness is now offering non-invasive treatment for soft-tissue conditions, pain with Graston Technique
New City, N.Y. (March 6, 2018)—Access Physical Therapy & Wellness, Hudson Valley’s fastest growing physical, occupational and speech therapy group, is proud to announce that Tracy Urvater, PT, DPT, OCS, GTS, was certified as a Graston Technique Specialist on Feb. 18. The Graston Technique is a form of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization that enables Urvater to detect and treat soft tissue injuries and conditions such as muscle tightness and strain that result in pain, promote healing of muscle and tendon injuries, and improve a patient’s optimal range of motion.
“This is an innovative and very effective treatment for a wide range of soft tissue conditions, whether they’re post-surgical, chronic or, in some cases, acute,” said Dr. Urvater.
The evidence-based technique utilizes specially designed stainless steel instruments that Dr. Urvater uses to locate and treat areas exhibiting scar tissue, fascial restrictions or chronic inflammation. When combined with appropriate therapeutic exercise and activities, the use of Graston Technique instruments can restore pain-free movement and function.
“The Graston Technique is still not widely known or available despite its effectiveness. More than ever, it’s crucial for people to have access to non-opioid pain relief and forms of non-invasive interventions that promote healing. I’m happy to be able to offer this treatment to our community,” said Dr. Urvater.
Dr. Urvater owns and operates Access Physical Therapy & Wellness in New City and Pomona, where she is now using the Graston Technique among other treatment modalities.
“After a period of treatment, I had significant relief from the pain with this technique, and I was able to perform daily activities with less pain,” said one of Dr. Urvater’s patients, who was referred to physical therapy for thumb tendonitis.
According to Dr. Urvater, this unique form of therapy can improve conditions like carpal tunnel syndrome, tendonitis, fibromyalgia, back and neck pain, joint pain, and many movement system dysfunctions.
