Dr. Balda is a physician and engineer by training, an entrepreneur by luck, a pilot for fun and a dad by choice.
During his 30-year off-and-on tenure at Medicomp, Inc., he went from stock boy to CEO and held many key roles in between. Memorable highlights include: Medicomp’s equipment monitoring crews on the Mir space station and later the International Space Station; securing angel funding which transformed Medicomp from a capital equipment provider into a service company; preparing Medicomp for a strategic merger with United Therapeutics (NASDAQ: UTHR); and growing organic revenues by 5x in ten years. Dr. Balda led the launch of several FDA approved medical products, authored multiple patents, led the acquisition of Medicomp back from United Therapeutics and most importantly, redefined Medicomp’s vision and culture during that transition. In his role as Chairman, Dr. Balda ensures that a physician’s perspective in caring for patients echoes throughout the Medicomp community.
Dr. Balda is also passionate about mentoring and connecting entrepreneurs. He has coached many entrepreneurs in small and large companies as a self-described systems super freak.
